Wingate - Charlie Dazey, 83 retired Wingate farmer and auto salesman and former member of the town board, died Thursday morning at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville. He had been a patient there since Friday. Mr. Dazey had been a lifetime worker in the Republican party and had served 8 years on the WIngate Town Board. He was a member of the Center Christian Church, Wingate. After his retirement, he had worked for several years as janitor of the Wingate School. He was born June 16, 1884, near Wingate, son of Charles and AManda Swank Dazey. He and Verna Rodgers were married in 1909. Survivors include the widow; two sons, Virgil and Robert, Wingate; 3 daughters, Kathryn Breaks and Patrician Bane, Wingate and Lois DeJardin of Brownsburg; a granddaughter, Carolyn Wilson whom the Dazeys reared in their home; 9 other grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mr. Dazey was preceded in death by a daughter, Lucille Lane. Funeral services will be held at the Hunt & Son Funeral Home in Crawfordsville at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Cleon Lipp and Rev. Homer Hunsinger will officiate. Burial in Wingate Greenlawn Cemetery.
