Veedersburg - Mrs. Lydia E. Day, 87, life resident of Fountain Co, died Sunday evening (nov 27, 1955 - hand date - not sure if date of death or obituary) following a year's illness. Born Sept 22, 1868 in Fountain Co, Mrs. Day was the daughter of Nathaniel and Delilah Summers. She was married 9-6-1886 to Thomas J. Day of near Veedersburg. he died 20 years ago. Mrs. Day was a member of the Centennial Evangelical United Brethren Church. Survivors include six daughters, one son and 8 grandchldren; daughters are: Mrs. Magdline NIne of Hillsboro; Mrs. Nellie Isaacs of Veedersburg; Mrs. Ruby Rich of Yeddo; Mrs. Beatrice Nims of Gary; Mrs Mary Andrews of Marion and Mrs. Maxine Bryant of West Lafayette. The son, Harvey Day (Harry handwirtten) resides in Gary. Rev. Bennett Fulp, pastor of the 1st Evangelical United Brethern Church in Crawfordsville will be the officiating minsiter at the funeral services Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Centennial EUB Church, burial in Centennial Cemetery.

Lydia Ellen Day was born in Millcreek Township, Indiana (sic) Sept 22nd, 1868 and departed from this life at her home in Yeddo Nov 27, 1955 age 87 years 2 months 15 days. She was the daughter of Nathaniel and Delilah Redenbaugh Summers and was of a family of five children, all having preceded her in death.  Sept 6 1886 she was united in marriage with Thomas J. Day who departed from this life Nov 24, 1935.  To this union 11 children were born: Magdaline Nine, Hillsboro; Nellie Isaacs, Veedersburg; Ruby Rich, Yeddo; Mary Anders, Marion, Ind; Beatrice Nims and Harry Day both of Gary and Maxine Bryant, Williamsport, Ind. All above named survived their mother. Howard, Herman, Flossie and an infant son having preceded their father and mother in death.  Nine grandchildren survive her: Doris McBroom Eldridge, Thomas McBroom, Helen LaVern Day Cranahan, Carolyn Ann and Johnie Oelslater, Richard and Ernies Nims, Gregory and Marcia Bryant and five great grandchildren.  Her entire life was lived in this community.  Early in life she became a member of the EUB Centennial Church, the Yeddo Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star and the Centennial Cemetery League. Lydia Ellen as she was affectionally known to the family, neighbors and friends lived her entire active life in this community. She was a devoted wife to her husband and loving mother to her children and their families. She will be mourned and missed by a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and neighbors. – kbz
