William R. Dawson, 78, a farmer in the Mace community many years, died Wednesday in St. Cloud, Fla., where he had made his home since 1952. He had been ill 18 months. Born Feb. 15, 1881, in Warren County Mr. Dawson was the son of Perry and Susan Sargent Dawson. He was married three times, first to Doris Steffson, who preceded him in death. His second marriage was to Virginia Frances Hudlow, who also preceded him in death. The third wife, Clara Michaels, survives. Mr. Dawson was a member of the St. Cloud Methodist church and Modern Woodmen Lodge. Surviving in addition to the widow, are two sons, Gordon E. Dawson of St. Cloud and William H. Dawson of Chrisman, Ill., a daughter, Mrs. J. Russell butler, Rt 1 Crawfordsville; a sister, Mrs. Charles Hamilton of Williamsport; two brothers, Charles Dawson of Charleston, Ill, and Wayne Dawson, Hoopeston, Ill; two stepsons, Richard Michaels of Linden and Howard Michaels of Lafayette; a stepdaughter, Mrs. William Wright of Wichita, Kan., four grandchildren and eight great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sons. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. C.H. Loveland of Trinity Methodist Church will be the officiating minister. Burial will be at Hoopeston, Ill. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services for William R. Dawson were held Tuesday morning at the Bright Funeral Home. Rev. C.H. Loveland, pastor of the Trinity Methodist Church, officiated. Serving at pallbearers and assisting with the floral tributes were Perry Hamilton and Claude Hamilton of Williamsport' Howard Michael of Lafayette; Richard Michael of Linden and Paul Fishero and Oscar Hybarger of Crawfordsville. Perry Hamilton, a nephew of Williamsport, sang, accompanied on the organ by Miss Rilla Hybarger; a great niece. Curtis E. Bright played requested organ selections at the beginning and close of the services. Burial was in Floral Hill Cemetery at Hoopeston, Ill. Mr. Dawson 78, a well-known farmer in the Mace and Crawfordsville vicinity before his retirement, died Jan 27, in a hospital at Kissimmee, Fla. Services were held Saturday afternoon in St. Cloud, Fla., where he had made his home for the past seven years.
