Manford (Dutch) Dawson, age 83, a native of Veedersburg and a patient for the past 5 years at the Allen Nursing Home in Rockville died at 9:30 p.m. Friday Feb 24 at the Home. Mr. Dawson was born June 16, 1883 in Veedersburg, the son of John and Nancy Butts Dawson. He was married to Bertha Gover who preceded him in death. He later married Carrie Shipman who also preceded him in death. Mr. Dawson was a retired barber and member of the Veedersburg EUB Church. Surviving are one son, Harold Lee Dawson of Terre Haute and one grandson. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Sever Mortuary in Veedersburg. The Rev. Ivan Steed officiated and burial was in Coal Springs Cemetery near Veedersburg. – kbz
