COVINGTON — Ruthellen Davis, 79, Covington, died at 9:20 a.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006 in The Waters of Covington. She was born Nov. 30, 1926 in Danville, Ill., the daughter of Dale and Merle (Volkel) Gouty. She was a 1945 graduate of Perrysville High School and attended Danville Junior College and Utterback Brown Business College. She was employed at Hyster from 1947 to 1960, and several insurance companies from 1960 to 1992, when she retired from Zurich Life Insurance Co. She moved from Rolling Meadows, Ill. to Covington in 2004. She was a member of Gessie and Palatine United Methodist Churches, and Certified Professional Insurance Women. Survivors include: a brother, Bill L. Gouty, Danville, Ill.; a sister, Georgianna Myers, Covington; two nieces, Michelle Gouty, Danville, Ill. and Diana (Jim) Sweezy, Eva, Ala.; two nephews, Greg (Sandy) Myers, Covington and Kevin (Tammy) Gouty, Lafayette, La.; four great nieces; and a great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. tonight (Wednesday) in Shelby Funeral Home, Covington. Funeral services will be there at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Larry Stoops officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery, Covington. Memorials may be given to Gessie United Methodist Church or Alzheimer's Association with envelopes available at the funeral home. – jlr
