J. Ray Davis, 66, salesman for the Webster Wholesale Grocery Company 30 years, died about 10 a.m. Sunday while being admitted as a patient in St. Elizabeth Hospital. He had been ill only a short time.
A member of the United Commercial Travelers and the Friends Church of Georgetown, Mr. Davis made his home at 817 Grant St. He was born June 3, 1880 in Grape Creek, a son of john and Nancy Lashley Davis. He was well known throughout eastern Illinois and western Indiana, where he followed his sales route.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Davis; one daughter, Mrs. Virginia Royalty; one son, Wilson Davis of Lansing, Ill.; three grandchildren; one brother, D. W. Davis of Custer, S. D.; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Hamm of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Ella Blakeney of Los Angeles and Mrs. Bertha Tolmes of Monrovia, Calif.; and a half brother, Bert Graham of Georgetown. – thanks so much to S&E
