DAVIS, Hubert W. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Funeral services for Hubert W. Davis, age 56, of 1201 Liberty St, Covington, who died at 9:10 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, in Lake View Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill., were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Hegg Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Glenn Ray officiated and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington. Mr. Davis was born May 23, 1910, in Sullivan County, the son of Russell and Carrie Whitman Davis. He was married April 28, 1946, to Phyllis Wells Ellis, who survives. He had been employed for seven years at Allen's Pontiac-Oldsmobile Sales and Service in the service and parts department. He also had operated the Western Auto Associate Store in Covington a number of years ago. He was a member of the Fulton-Banta Post 291, American Legion of Covington' the Church of Christ and the Elks Lodge 332 of Danville, Ill. He had served in the Air Force in World War II. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are a step-son, David Ellis of Atlanta, Ga.; a missing step-son Steve Ellis; one brother, Charles L. of Sullivan and one sister, Mrs. Estella Champer of Terre Haute. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
