Mrs. Harriet Evelyn Davis, age 66 a resident of Covington Rt 2 since 1955 died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday Feb 19 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, Ill. She had been a patient there since Dec 22 and had been ill two years. Mrs. Davis was born April 18, 1900 in Danville the daughter of Charles and Gertrude Long Caldwell. She was married in 1939 to Harold Davis who survives. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and had been employed by the telephone company for 25 years in Danville, Ill, Peoria, Ill and Washington DC where she was a Civil Service Employee with the Army during World War II at Arlington, Va. She attended the Christian Union Church. Survivors in addition to the husband are her stepfather, Ernest J. Michaels of Covington Rt 1; three step sisters, Mrs. Geraldine Moore , Mrs. Louise Gravel and Mrs. Gladys McLaughlin all of Grove City, Ohio and an uncle. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. The Rev. Donald True officiated and burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery, southwest of Covington. – kbz
