Gordon L. Day of RR 1, Darlington, age 57, died Sunday evening, October 11, at his home. He was born in Fountain County, March 22, 1924, the son of Murl and Geneva Lewis Day. September 4, 1943, he married Margaret Louise Stewart, who survives. He attended Tangier schools and was employed at Farmers Feed and Grain Elevator at Darlington. Day was a member of Bible Baptist Church at Crawfordsville and of the Army Reserve.
Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Rita Nicholas of Crawfordsville and Mrs. Ida Sowders of Linden; two sons, David M. of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jim of Darlington; four brothers, Archie of Battleground, Jack of Russellville, Brownie of Darlington and Dick of Rockville; Six sisters, Susie Witsman of Covington, Josephine Stewart and Nora Ann Day, both of Crawfordsville, Wanda Radcliff of Hillsboro, Mary Fischer of Alamo and Rosie Jardell of Lawrence, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at Burkhart’s Darlington Chapel with Rev. Jim Rivers officiating. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery at Darlington. – kbz
