George Davis, formerly a printer in the Ledger office, but who now lives in Lafayette, fell through a bridge three or four miles above Independence last Thursday morning about 2 o’clock, and broke his thigh, besides receiving other injuries. He was trying to cross the bridge, when he saw the train coming. He got through the bridge, intending to hang by his hands till the cars passed, but when he attempted to get back found he could not, and after hanging as long as he could, let go all hold from sheer exhaustion and fell a distance of 28 feet, with the result above stated. Davis died Wednesday morning.—Attica Ledger.
