DAVIS, Carl Robert - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Carl Robert Davis of Covington, age 82, died Friday morning, January 21, in Covington Manor nursing Home. He was born in Richland Township, Fountain County, February 21, 1900, the son of Joseph and Ada Rice Davis. In November of 1926, he married Mable Gookins, who died November 30, 1965. On May 30, 1968, he married Anna Crowder Merryman, who died August 10, 1974.

  Davis served as superintendent of the Fountain County Home for 17 years from the late 1950’s to the early 1970’s. He had also been an engineer with the New York Central Railroad He was a member of Covington Masonic Lodge, Hammond Moose Lodge and Brotherhood of Locomotive Firemen and Engineers.

  Survivors include a son, Robert L. Davis of Crawfordsville; a stepdaughter, Jane Bowles of RR 2, Veedersburg; two stepsons, Roy Lee Merryman of Perrysville and Sam Merryman of Kingman; a sister, Frances Lorton of Indianapolis; a brother, Joe Davis of Indianapolis; nine step grandchildren and one step great grandson.

  Funeral services were held Monday morning at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington with Rev. Richard Pippin officiating. Burial was in Mount Hope Cemetery at Covington. = thanks to S
