Hillsboro --Mrs. Ada Davis, 84, widow of Joseph Davis, died Sunday night in the Methodist Hospital at Indianapolis where she had been a patient since Saturday. Born Oct. 20, 1874, near Newtown, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Washington and Susan Rice. She married Mr. Davis in 1894. The husband died in 1929. A former resident of Hillsboro, Mrs. Davis spent most of her life in Fountain County. At the time of her death she was making her home with a daughter, Mrs. Robert Lorton, of Indianapolis. Surviving, besides the daughter in Indianapolis, are two other daughters, Mrs. Ferrol Westfall of New Ross and Mrs. Nora Cochran of New Richmond; three sons, Irvin Davis of Linden, Carl Davis of Covington, and Joseph Davis of Indianapolis, a brother, Fred Rice of near Crawfordsville, and nine grandchildren. The body was taken to the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Arrangements for the services are incomplete. (thanks, Lena)

Mrs. Ada Davis, 84, widow of Joseph Davis, died, Sunday night at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She entered the hospital on Saturday suffering from a heart ailment.
She had been a resident of Hillsboro and vicinity for a number of years and all of their married life had been making her home with her youngest daughter Mrs. Robert Lorton and family, of Indianapolis.
Born Oct. 20, 1874 near Newtown, Mrs. Davis was the daughter of Washington and Susan Rice. She married Mr. Davis in 1894 and he preceded her in death in 1929. She was an active worker in the Hillsboro Christian Church.
Survivors are three sons, Irvin Davis, of Linden; Carl Davis, Covington; Joseph Davis of Indianapolis and three daughters, Mrs. Ferrol Westfall, of New Ross; Mrs. Nora Cochran, of New Richmond and Mrs. Frances Lorton, of Indianapolis; & brother, Fred Rice of near Crawfordsville and nine grandchildren.
Funeral service was held at the Crumley Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Homer Cole, pastor of Hillsboro Christian Church officiating. Burial was in Ross Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. - jz
