Mellott – Dale Davidson, a resident of Mellott in his youth and secretary-treasurer of the Fiber Mfg Co. died suddenly Monday of a heart attack at his home in State Lind Nev. He was 56 years old. Davidson had been an employee of Fiber Mfg. Co. for several years. During WWII he served as a Major in the US Army in in the European Theater. He was born in Mellott, the son of Rufus and Anna Stafford Davidson. The family subsequently moved to East St. Louis where he was reared. While serving with the Army in Berlin, Germany he married Giesla Smitz who survives. Other survivors are a son Peter a teacher in Peru, South America and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Royal of Mellott and Mrs. Cloyd (Mable) Drennan of Bellville, Ill. A sister preceded him in death. Services are incomplete pending the arrival of his son. Burial will be in Golden Gate Military Cemetery in San Francisco. - kbz
