DAUGHERTY, Chester

Chester C. Daugherty, 82, 412 E. Monroe St., Attica, who had been residing at Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica, died 1:05 a.m. Saturday at Community Hospital, Williamsport. He had been in failing health for three years.

  He was born at Lafayette April 11, 1893, the son of O. C. and Emma Mentzer Daugherty. He lived nearly all his life in Attica and was married Dec. 23, 1915, at Danville, Ill., to Lyleth Greenman who preceded him in death June 28, 1972. He graduated from Attica High School in 1911 and was retired traffic manager at Harrison Steel Castings Co. He was a very active member of the Attica United Methodist Church and sang in the choir a number of years. He was a 50-year member of Wabash Lodge No. 708 F&AM.

  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dale (Gladys Ann) Kimbrell, Attica; Mrs. James (Marilyn) Hershberger, Rt. 1, Hillsboro; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

  Friends were received Sunday at the Dale Maus Funeral Home in Attica, where services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday with Rev. Vernon Lallement officiating. Kay Jones played favorite selections on the organ which were “How Great Thou Art”, Holy, Holy, Holy”, and “In the Garden”. Burial was at Riverside Cemetery, Attica.

  Those who served as pallbearers were Warren Albert, Russell Johnson, Russell Blickenstaff, Thomas E. Gossett, Gary McDaniel and Harold Lee Hesler. – s
