Waynetown, March 4- - The body of Hal C. Darnell, 70, prominent Waynetown business man, who died at the Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon was returned here this evening. Mr. Darnell, a member of the town board here, underwent an operation at the Crawfordsville hospital 10 days ago. His death was attributed to complications. The deceased, a life long resident of this place, is well known throughout this community. He taught for 11 years in the Wayne Township schools and was trustee 4 years. He also operated a hardware store 30 years. Mr. Darnell was born Nov 19, 1865 in Waynetown, the son of Henry W. and Mary Randolph Darnell. He was married to Miss Carrie Vaughn Sept 9, 1890. Mr. Darnell was a member of the Masonic Knights of Pythias and Order of Eastern Star lodges and the Baptist Church, all of this place. Survivors in addition to the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Bernard C. Clausen of Pittsburg, PA; 3 grandchildren, Mary Carolyn, Barton and Susan Clausen, all of Pittsburg, PA; two brothers, Fred and Claude Darnell, both of Waynetown, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Lottie Zuck and Miss Lola Darnell, both of Waynetown and Mrs. Lou Thomas of Clearwater, Fl. Private funeral services will be held at the home at 12 o'clock noon Thursday. The body will then be taken to the Baptist Church wher eit will lie in state from 12:30 to 1:30 o'clock at which time public rites will be conducted in charge of the Rev. IC Overman. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. kbz
