CUNNINGHAM, Charles Cletus - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Charles C. Cuningham, Rt 1, Kingman was killed Friday morning in a timber cutting accident on the Eugene Baker farm 3 miles SE of Wallace. According to Robert Shelby, Fountain County coroner, Cunningham died of a fractured skull. Witnesses said that Cunningham was cutting down a tree preparatory to a bull dozing operation and as the tree toppled, a heavy limb fell striking him in the head. Cunningham, 59 was employed by Frank Gray of Hillsboro. Gray operates an excavation and construction firm. The Cunningham family home is approximately 3/4 of a mile south of Wallace. Born June 20, 1910 in Fountain County, the accident victim was the son of Lonnie and Alice Nolen Cunningham. The father survives and he and Cunningham's stepmother reside in Wallace. Other survivors include the widow the former, Dorothy Miller; 3 daughters, Mrs. Kay Everett of Kingman; Mrs. Clyde (Mary Jane) Zachary of the Veeersburg community; and Sally Cunningham at home; 5 grandchidren, LuAnn, Danle and Michael Evertt and Andy and Alan Zachary. In addition to his mother, Cunningham was preceded in death by a son, Mierrill who was killed in an auto accient. Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Watson Funeral Home in Cayuga with burial in Wolf Creek.
