CRUMLEY, William V. - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Mellott - William V. Crumley, 74, prominent lifelong farmer of this community, died suddenly at his home near here early Tuesday morning. Mr. Crumley had been in ill health with heart trouble for some time but his condition had not appeared to be worse lately. Shortly before 7 o'clock Tuesday morning Mr. Crumley went out to the yard in front of his farm home to call to a neighbor who was passing. Just as he raised him arms to hail the man, Carroll Asbury, he pitched forward to the ground. A physician was called but it was found that he had died instantly. It had been the intention of Mr. Crumley to ask Asbury to cut his wheat, since his health was not such that he felt able to do it himself. The deceased was born on the old Crumley farm, located near where he died. His birth occurred Sept 18 1860. He was the son of John and Sarah Crumley. His marriage to Miss Elizabeth Boord of Osborne's Prairie took place on March 17 1882. He had been a farmer all of his life.The survivors include the wife; one son Clifford Crumley, Covington undertaker; a brother Gilbert Crumley of near Frankfort; a sister Miss Della Crumley of near Mellott; two grandchildren and four great grandchildren. The funeral services were held at the home three miles northwest of Mellott Thursday afternoon at three o'clock. - thanks to Betty D
