Williamsport -- Lucille E. (McBroom) Crumley, 91, long time resident of Williamsport, died at 10:25 p.m. Saturday Oct 25 1997 in Edgewood Healthcare Center, Oxford. She had been a resident for three weeks. She was born in Hillsboro March 11 1906 the daughter of Harvey Milton and Daisey Fenton McBroom. She married Howard D. Crumley March 28 1925. He preceded in death Nov 5 1979. She was raised in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School. She graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Chicago, then returning to Hillsboro, where she met and married her husband. She had penned several poems that were published in various books, magazines and other religious articles. She had written several poems and articles for 'Ideal Magazine'. She had also given private piano lessons in her home. She and Howard moved to Williamsport in 1939 where they owned and operated a restaurant in downtown Williamsport called Crumley's Cafe. She had attended the Williamsport Christian Church. She was active in various groups including West Lebanon Women's Club and the Community Hospital Guild, serving as president for both organizations. Surviving are two daughters, Merridy J. Dillman and Madlon L. Drayer, both of Pine Village; two sons, Wayne C. Crumley, Omaha, Neb.; Monte G. Crumley, Indianapolis; seven grandchildren, Marlene Stembaugh, Minneapolis, Minn.; Jane Craigin, Pine Village, Jean Fields, Williamsport; Chris and Wendy Crumley, Indianapolis, Todd Drayer, Pine Village, Blaine Drayer, St. Louis and eight great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and Fenton McBroom Private family graveside services were held in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hillsboro. Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital.
