CRUMLEY, Edith McKnight - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Hillsboro - Mrs. Edith Crumley, 74, died about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday (Apr. 3, 1951) at her home north of Hillsboro. She had been ill seven weeks and was a recent patient of Culver Hospital, Crawfordsville. Mrs. Crumley was born Feb. 1, 1877, on a farm near Hillsboro, the daughter of Charles and Joanna Reed McKnight. On Feb. 1, 1903, she was married to Ralph Crumley. They resided on the same farm near Hillsboro since then. Survivors include the husband and two daughters, Mrs. Lena Short of Kohala, Hawaii, and Mrs. Dorothy Smith, Attica. Mrs. Short has been visiting here for the past few weeks. Other survivors are three grandchildren and three brothers, I. L. McKnight of Attica, and T. G. McKnight of Newtown and William Q. McKnight, missionary in Japan. Mrs. Crumley was a member of the Congregational Christian Church of Mellott and was a former school teacher. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Crumley Funeral Home of Hillsboro will be in charge.

Mr. and Mrs. Crumley had spent all of their married life on a farm northwest of Hillsboro. In early life, Mrs. Crumley was a school teacher for several years. She was a member of the Congregational Christian church at Mellott. The survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lena Short, of Kohala, Hawaii, who flew here to be at her mother's bedside, and Mrs. Dorothy Smith, of Attica. Other survivors are three grandchildren and three brothers. The brothers are I. L. McKnight, of Attica, T. G. McKnight, of Newtown, and William Q. McKnight, a missionary in Japan. Funeral services are incomplete.
