Covington - Reason Crowder, 78, was found dead in bed at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Tremont Hotel, where he lived. Death was attributed to natural causes and believed to have occurred late Wednesday night. Born near Snoddy's Mill on Aug 29, 1888, he was a son of Sam and Rose Teegarden Crowder. He was married to Grace Shoaf, who preceded him in death. Surviving are a son, Donald of Benton Harbor, Mich; three daughters, Mrs. Twila Jones of Rt. 2, Goreville, Ill; Mrs. Frances Francisco of Benton Harbor and Mrs. Dorothy Anderson of Waukegan, Ill; two brothers, Amos Crowder of Rt. 2, Veedersburg and Otto Crowder of Perrysville and several grandchildren. A sister and four brothers are deceased. Mr. Crowder was a diesel mechanic 17 years at Benton Harbor. The remainder of his life was spent in Fountain County. He formerly made his home with his brother Amos. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here where friends may call beginning Friday afternoon, Rev. Alfred Dobbs will officiate and burial will be in Cooper's Cemetery. kbz
