Covington—Mildred O. Crowder, 83, Route 1, Covington, died at 10:05 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 1989 at United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville, Ill.
  She was born April 26, 1906 in the same home where she lived in Wabash Township, the daughter of Julian and Leffie Marlatt Oblinger. She was married May 25, 1933 to Leroy “Hap” Crowder, who preceded her in death July 7, 1985.
  She was a lifetime resident of Wabash Township, member of Wabash Chapel Church and Ladies Aid, member and past Worthy Matron of Perrysville Chapter 302 Order of Eastern Star and served 20 years as secretary. She was member and past president of Troy, Wabash and Fountain County Republican women’s clubs and was past president and member of Troy Home Extension Club.
  She was vice chairman of the Fountain County Republican Committee 18 years and was honored for outstanding service by the Indiana Young Republicans in 1979.
  She had been coordinator for Gov. Orr, and had been named a Sagamore of the Wabash by Gov. Bowen and Gov. Orr. She was appointed honorary secretary of state by Edwin Simcox and was a charter member of President Reagan’s Task Force. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles.
  Surviving are a son, Ronald L., Covington; four grandsons, Douglas, Princeton, Ill., and Cary, Bart and Eric, all of Covington, and four great grandchildren, Rashelle, Aaron, Cody and Nathan.
  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Shelby Funeral Home, Covington, with the Rev. Duane Craycraft officiating. Burial will be in Coal Creek Cemetery. – thanks to S
