CROWDER, Clara Barton - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Wingate - Clara F. Irvin Crowder, 96, died at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday in Wingate at the home of a son, Don Irvin, with whom she had made her home for 15 years. She had been ill for a week. She was born Oct. 27, 1864, to Robert and Mary Groves Barton near Waveland. In 1885 she was married to Hugh Irvin, who died in 1900. John S. Crowder, to whom she was married in 1925, died in 1947. Mrs. Crowder was a member of the Wingate Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star. She is survived by four sons, W.L. Irvin of Long Beach, Calif., Ben Irvin of Darlington, and Don and Hubert Irvin of Wingate; two stepsons, Wiley Crowder of Waynetown and Grover Crowder of Hillsboro; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a stepson. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Servies Funeral Home in Waynetown, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday. Rev. Carl Nesbett will be assisted by Rev. John Landon in conducting the services. Burial will be in the Newtown Cemetery.
