HOOPESTON (CNS) – Herman S. Cronkhite, 84, of Hoopeston, died at 1 p.m. yesterday (March 13, 1969) at the Hoopeston Community Memorial Hospital. He had been a patient there for the past 2 ½ months. Born April 28, 1884, in the Antioch Community, he was the son of LaFayette and Frances Gunn Cronkhite. He was married Sept. 26, 1907, to Ula Dengler, who died Nov. 11, 1960. Mr. Cronkhite was a member of the First Baptist Church. He had farmed in the Rossville-Hoopeston community most of his life. He also resided for some time in Alex, Okla. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Marita Webb of Hoopeston; two sons, Eugene B. of Danville and Raymond A. of Danville Route 2; a brother, Dewey of Clearwater, Fla.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jack Wagoner will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hill Cemetery. The body is at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p m Saturday. – jlr
