Bert W. Cronkhite, 81, of Lawrenceville, died at 7:35 p.m. yesterday (Oct. 18, 1968) in Danville Care Nursing Home where he had been a patient one year. Born Feb. 7, 1887 near Rossville, he was the son of Lafayette and Fannie Gunn Cronkhite. He is survived by his third wife, Mary Cronkhite of Lawrenceville; two sons, Herman Cronkhite of South Bend, Ind. and Glenn Cronkhite of Hallandale, Fla.; one daughter, Mrs. Ethel Gernand of Hoopeston. Also, two brothers, Herman Cronkhite of Hoopeston and Dewey Cronkhite of Clearwater, Fla.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gracie, in June 1917; his second wife, Lottie, in June, 1957; one sister and two brothers. Mr. Cronkhite attended the United Brethren Church in Lawrenceville and was employed as a latherer and also by the Chicago & Eastern Illinois Railroad, retiring in 1952. He was a member of the Latherers Local. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Barrick & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Oliver Starns officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
