HILLSBORO – Fred W Croft, 84, of near Hillsboro died Sunday night in Culver Hospital at Crawfordsville. He had been hospitalized since being injured while mowing the lawn at his residence 7 ½ weeks ago. Mr. Croft was a retired farmer and a member of the Nondenominational Organization. He served with the U.S. Army in France during World War I. Born Feb. 16, 1889, in Goodrich, England, he was a son of Edwin and Elizabeth Darr Croft. He was married Feb. 17, 1937, to Ruby Lindquist who survives. Also surviving are two sons, George E. of near Waynetown and James E. of near Hillsboro; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Leffel of Mexico, Ind., and Mrs. Dorothea Harger of Chesterton; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the family residence two miles northeast of Hillsboro with Doyle Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
