GESSIE – Clara Edna Crist, 84, died Tuesday in St. Elizabeth’s Hospital at Danville, Ill. She lived in the Gessie community since 1931 and was a member of the Gessie United Methodist Church Ladies Aid. Mrs. Crist was
born Dec. 26, 1889 in Clay County, the daughter of John David and Susan Phegley Crist. She was married to Derell (Dick) Crist at Terre Haute in 1913. Survivors include two sons, William L. and Robert R. of Perrysville; a daugher, Mrs. Leonard (Lora) Maly of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Elna Nelson of Terre Haute, and Mrs. Eva Thompson of Hymera, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home at Covington with the Rev. Henry Karg officiating. Burial will be in Lower Mound Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Thursday. - jlr

Gessie, Ind.—Mrs. Clara Edna Crist, 84, of Perrysville Route 1 in the Gessie community, died at 11:35 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 10, 1974 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She had been a patient five days.
  Born Dec. 26, 1889, in Clay County, Ind., she was the daughter of John David and Susan Phegley Crist. She was married in 1913 at Terre Haute to Darrell “Dick” Crist, who preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Crist had been a resident of Gessie since 1931. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Ladies Aid.
  Survivors include two sons, William L. and Robert R., both of Perrysville Route 1; a daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Laura) Maly of Anderson; two sisters, Mrs. Elna Nelson of Terre Haute and Mrs. Roy (Eva) Thompson of Hymera; four grandchildren, Dr. Phillip Maly, Mrs. Richard Rowe, Miss Jane Crist and Richard Crist; and four great grandchildren.
  She was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
  Services wee 2 p.m. Friday at Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home. The Rev. Henry Karg officiated. Burial was in Lower Mound Cemetery. -s
