CRISPELL, Nina Short

Mrs, Nina Short Crispell, 66, a native of Hillsboro where she is well known, was killed instantly about 7:00 p.m. Sunday when she was struck by lightning while she and her husband, Dr. Raymond Crispell, were on a pleasure boat cruise at Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Crispell was reported to have been lying on a cot in the cabin of the boat when the lightning struck.
There were others in the cabin with her and none of them were injured. Dr. Crispell was on deck, at the time, according to word, received here. They have resided in Atlanta for a number of years.
The victim was the only daughter of, Charles and Mary Short and was born in this vicinity on February 8, 1892. She was graduated from Purdue University and was a former teacher of home economics in Hillsboro High School and other public schools. She was also employed as a dietician in New York and was married to Dr. Raymond Crispell, who was a former Duke University instructor.
She frequently spent her summers here until the death,of her parents a few years ago.
Survivors besides the husband are two brothers, Bruce Short of Indianapolis and Frank Short of Palmdale, Calif. Funeral services were held in Atlanta Tuesday afternoon with burial in Atlanta. A niece, Miss Marianette Short, of Indianapolis, attended the funeral service. - jz
