CRANMORE, Manford - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Hillsboro, April 28 – Manford Cranmore, well known in this vicinity was instantly killed at the C&EI Car Shops at Danville, Ill late Saturday evening. He was employed at the turning table and a dead engine was being pulled in. He was struck by an iron bar and knocked directly in front of the engine which passed over his body. He was badly mangled and it is thought he died instantly. He was 53 years of age.  He was engaged in farming in this vicinity for a number of years, having moved from here to Danville about 4 years ago. Besides his widow he leaves three daughters: Florence, Bertha and Dorothy Cranmore, all of whom reside at home and one sister, Mrs. Mary Miller of near Hillsboro. The funeral service will be held at the Osborn’s Prairie Chapel Church near Stone Bluff on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment will be in Osborn’s Prairie cemetery. - kbz
