Mrs. Maude Crane, who suffered a cerebral hemorrhage three weeks ago, died at her home here Monday morning at the age of 82. She had spent most of her life in the Wingate community and was a member of the Wingate Christian Church, charter member of the Pythian Sisters, a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the American Legion, and a member of the Ladies Guild of the Christian Church. Mrs. Crane was born Sept. 9, 1879, near Atlanta, Ill., and was married Sept. 16, 1897, at Queen City, Mo., to M.S. Crane. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Fleeta Crumley of Veedersburg, and Mrs. Ruth Wilson of Wingate; two brothers, Claude and Vernon Cooper of Canada; one sister, Mrs. Lola McCullough of Canada; eight grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, William Crane. The son was widely known as a basketball player both at Wingate High School and Wabash College. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Wingate Christian Church with Rev. Carl Nisbet officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the Servies Funeral Home at Waynetown after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
