CRANE, Lawrence William (Bill) - WWII Vet

    Dr. Lawrence William (Bill) Crane, 74, 503 E. Pike St., Attica, died at his residence Monday, Feb. 11, at 9:45 a.m.  Death was sudden and unexpected.   He was born in Stone Bluff April 30, 1919, the son of Glover Leland and Ada Florence Beebe Crane.  He lived most of his life in Fountain County, moving to Attica in 1935 where he set up a dental practice, retiring in 1975 after 40 years of service.  He was a graduate of Veedersburg High School and Indiana University Dental School.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army from 1942-46 as a Major and was stationed in Abilene, Texas and Santa Fe, New Mexico.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Attica, former member of Attica School Board during the ‘50’s, Delta Sigma Delta dental fraternity, and the Attica-Williamsport American Legion Post No. 259.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting.  He was married Jan. 30, 1932, in Paris, Ill., to Helen Dorothy Overfield, who survives.  Surviving, besides his wife, are his mother, Mrs. Ada Jessup, Fowler; one son, Larry Crane, Williamsport; one brother, Gordon Crane, Goodland, and one granddaughter, Amy Lee Crane, Williamsport. Funeral services were held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, Thursday, Feb. 14, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. R. Larry Smith officiating.  Burial was in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.      Those so desiring may contribute in memoriam to the Attica First United Methodist Church memorial fund. -s-

Funeral services for Dr. Lawrence William (Bill) Crane, 74, 503 E. Pike St., Attica, who died at his residence Monday, Feb. 11, at 9:45 a.m., were held at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. R. Larry Smith officiating.
    Those who served as pallbearers were Howard Hayes, Garlyn Sundt, Frank Hatton, Glen Keeny, Jerry Crane, and Maurice Bower.  Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery, Attica. -s
