James W. Crane, 80, a native of Fountain County, died Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Margaret Simms in Camden, N. J., where he had gone to spend the winter.
Born September 29, 1876, he was the son of Benjamin and Margaret Irvin Crane.  Mr, Crane was married twice, to Edith McClain and Amy Miller.  Both preceded him in death.
Mr. Crane had been a farmer in Fountain County for many years, and later became a painter and paper hanger.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Simms of Camden, New Jersey, one son, Ben Crane of Wilmington, Del., four sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Conover of Waynetown, Marguerite Greenley of Oakland, California, Mrs. Julie Boord and Mrs,. Pearl Allen of Veedersburg.
The body of James Crane arrived in Veedersburg Thursday afternoon and was taken to the Parham Funeral Home where friends could call Thursday from 7 to 9, and Friday, 11 to 1:30, when the body will be taken to the Osborne Prairie Church. Services will be conducted there at 2:00.  The casket will not be opened at the Church.  Interment will be in the Osborne Prairie Cemetery.  - jz
