Charles F. Crane, 80 well known in Hillsboro, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday Feb 20 at his home in Clinton after an illness of one year’s duration. He was a veteran of the Spanish American War and member of the Clinton First Methodist Church. For several years he operated a wholesale candy and tobacco business. Surviving are his wife, Mae, two sons, Charles F. Jr of Orlando, Fla and Donald of Detroit, Mich; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Lois Zimo of South Bend; a brother George W. Crane, Sr of Hillsboro; three sisters, Mrs. Marguerite Tremaine of Covington, Mrs. Lela Hershberger of Ft. Wayne and Mrs. Lottie Moore of Vincennes and five grandchildren. Dr. George W. Crane, syndicated newspaper columnist of Hillsboro and Chicago is a nephew. Funeral service was held from the Frist Funeral Home in Clinton at 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Paul Shepherd officiating. Burial in Roselawn Cemetery. – kbz
