Eli Craft was born near Montezuma, Ind., Jan. 12, 1852 and departed this life Oct. 18, 1924, aged 72 years, 9 months and 6 days. he had always resided in this vicinity. he leaves to mourn his passing, a sister, Hannah Craft of Montezuma, a half brother, John Cole of Franklin, several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. His younger days were spent at farming at which he made a success. He followed farming until ill health over-took him. He has resided with his sister Hannah since the death of his parents, they having preceded him in death a number of years ago. He has lived a very quiet and patient life, and bore his suffering in the same way, his suffering being intense and of long duration. Patience being a characteristic of Mr. Craft perhaps lengthened his days, as did the kind and gentle care his good sister ministered to him during those long years of suffering. Only a few days ago he remarked that he prayed day and night, and that his days were numbered, and he would soon be at rest in a home not made with hands. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church, Monday afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by Rev. A. L. Vermillion. Interment at Oakland cemetery.
