COWGER, Elizabeth Abernathy - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

Elizabeth Abernathy was born in Fountain County, Indiana Oct 5, 1849 and died at her home near Downs, Kansas Sept 2, 1907, being 57 years 10 months 27 days of age. She was united in marriage to Alfred Hays June 30, 1870. To this union five children were born all of whom are living and are as follows: Mrs. TH Kelly and Mrs. WA Payne, St. Joseph, Mo; Mrs. GL Lytle, Belleville, Kansas, Mrs. JA Hays, Downs, Kan, and JW Hays, Cassoday, Kansas.  Alfred Hays died May 30, 1879 and she was again reunited in marriage to David L. Cowger, Nov 12, 1882. To this union five children were born, two of whom are living< Ralph and Pearl, three having died in infancy. Mrs. Cowger united with the Christian Church Sept 14, 1870. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, 7 children, 10 grandchildren, father and one brother. She has always proved herself to be a good mother and true wife. She has lead a good, consistent Christian life on this earth and now she has gone to dwell with God and those gone before.  The funeral was held in the Christian Church Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. FT Hay, the pastor and burial made in Oak Dale cemetery. - kbz
