From the Attica Ledger --Wm Covalt, son of Benjamin Covalt, of Stone Bluff, was killed on Monday last while cutting timber with his father and others for Dice Morgan & Co. A falling tree struck the limb of another tree, throwing it back. It struck the lad on the head, smashing his skull. He lived two hours after the accident. The limb that struck him was about four inches in diameter, and was thrown with such force that it was broken in several pieces. Covalt was quite a promising youth, aged sixteen years. The remains were interred Tuesday at Coal Creek Cemetery.
