Newtown – James Robert
Cotton, 65, formerly of Newtown died at 3:30 Wednesday in VA Hospital,
Danville, Ill. He had been in ill health
and had resided at the VA Hospital the past several years. Mr. Cotton was a
hyster driver for National Homes Corp in Lafayette for 22 years. Born in
Covington, March 27, 1922 he formerly lived there and in Newtown before moving
to Danville 10 years ago. He attended school in Covington. A WWII veteran, he served
in the Army. He was a member of the
Baptist Church at VA Hospital, Danville; Moose Lodge, Attica; Eagles Lodge in
Attica; and a life member of the American Legion in Attica and VFW in
Covington,. His marriage was in 1947 in Covington to Doris Painter. Surviving
are three daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Barbara) Mortimore of Cody, Wyo; Mrs. Wayne
(Donna) Christenberry of Attica and Mrs. Richard Kathy) Kelley of Veedersburg.
Also two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Sara Jane) Curtis of Yorktown, Il Mrs. Larry
(Patricia) Fletcher of Belajo, Calif; and two brothers, John Cotton of
Covington and Bill Cotton of Washington.
