Samuel H. Cornell was born Dec 16, 1829; died Sept 29, 1904 aged 74 years 9 months 13 days. He was married to Martha J. Ayles Dec 24, 1850 who died in 1854. To this union were born two daughters, Correlia and Desire. On Oct 15, 1856, he was married to Sarah M. Crumley who died in 1883. He was again united in marriage to Sarah E. Johnson Oct 20, 1887 who mourns his loss with his daughter, Mrs. Desire Deihl her two sons, Raymond and Charley and three other grandsons by elder daughter, Samuel and Azzie Leath and Oscar Quigle. He leaves two brothers and three sisters, GW Cornell of Conway Springs, Kas; John L. Cornell of Iola Kas. The eldest sister, Mrs. Desire B. Fagg of Emporia, Kas; Mrs. Horace Hetfield and Mrs. Sarah Rusk of this county. The deceased united with the Christian Church at Union Cemetery under the labors of WT Warbinton. We are confident of his sincerity by his care and devotion to the needy and helpless. His home was ever open to the orphans as most everyone can testify. He attained the degree of Master Mason Jan 16, 1864 and had been an honored member to the time of his death. Deceased was born and raised on the same farm where his death occurred. –- kbz
