COOPER, Miles - Fountain County INGenWeb Project

The following obituary of Miles Cooper, who died at his home in Hillsboro April 1 was written by Mr. Cooper on Feb 12, 1916: Miles Cooper was born in Delaware Co Ohio Feb 11, 1851. He departed this life April 1, 1947 aged 95 years one month and 14 days. I moved with my parents James and Lucinda Cooper to Fountain County Indiana in 1854.  We landed at the old home place April 8, 1854.  The farm was then known as the John Murdock farm, two miles west of Hillsboro, Ind.  It is now owned by Wallace Epperson.  There I spent many happy and fun days with the boys and girls of my youthful years.  Many of my school mates have passed over the river of death.  Many of the others have scattered to the four winds.  Where our next meeting will be I cannot tell.  For we are all in a race if we fall in the race that will determine our next place of meeting.  I lived with father and mother until Feb 11, 1873 and on that day, I was united in marriage to Lillie A. Nicholson daughter of William M. and Eliza Nicholson.  We moved to our selves (?) March 14, 1875.  To this union the Lord gave ? children.  As to their names I am not by mouth in ?  But the kind of ? life they are living ? is the only thing worth our ? notice in this life.  ? the kingdom of the Lord and ___ Jesus ___ in the night of Dec 16th 18? At the old Harmony Church  on that ?? night, how I live been tried and true ? (I really can’t read the upcoming but some toward the end I can) When a few more diff 7 years advanced I am going out to meet the life I have lived.  My life was determines my future home.  And since I am __ bury will any fault with me and ? .. the family wishes to add the following to this obituary.  Father is survived by a third wife ?, 24 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillia A. Cooper and by his daughters Dorothy E. Cooper and Maranda J. Spinks ? and four grandchildren.  Dale passing away in a Japanese prison camp.  Father was a consistent Christian for 74 years, always a great church worker.  He was a charter member of our local church of the Nazarene …
