Attica – Floyd Herbert Cooper, 83, of 1217 Division St, died at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday June 14 in the Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica following an illness of five years. Mr. Cooper was born Nov 3, 1911 in Mellott. His marriage was to Alice VanHufte, April 7, 1935 in Attica and she survives. He was raised in Mellott and graduated from Mellott HS where he played basketball. He had lived in Attica 55 years. Mr. Cooper had worked 40 years at the Harrison Steel Castings Co. After his retirement, he worked as a security guard at the Central National Bank in Attica for 14 years, retiring in 1993. He was an avid NY Yankee baseball and Purdue basketball fan. Also surviving are two daughters, Janice Elaine Cartwright of Lafyaette and Carolyn Sue Cooper of Wheeling, Ill; two brothers, Forest Cooper of Lakeland, Fla and Fern Cooper of Mellott and a sister, Elva Ballah of Veedersburg.

Surviving are 5 grandchildren: Chris Cartwright and Jill Heim of Lafayette; Sherry Gramer, Indianapolis; Mark Hutson of Carol Stream, Ill and Scott Hutson of Winter Haven, Fla; 5 great grandchildren; 2 special nieces, Terri A. VanHufte Carter, Orlanda, Fla and Cathy Sue Van Hufte, Attica. Preceded in death by a sister, 6 brothers, parents. Memorial to Alzheimer’s Foundation. kbz
