Crawfordsville, Ind July 21 – Mr. and Mrs. CB Cooper of Hillsboro, Fountain County, have received word from the war department that their son, Lt. William E. G. Cooper was Killed In Action in France on July 20. Lt. Cooper was 29 years old and enlisted in the regular army July 4, 1916. He was with a machine gun company of the 58th regiment and went to France in April. Lt. Cooper was a graduate of the Hillsboro HS. He was superintendent of schools at Westfield, Ill when he enlisted. He has two brothers in the service, CC Cooper, now on his way overseas and Joel S. Cooper, who is in training at Ft. Riley, Kansas
