Mrs. Leffie (Lessie) Cook, age 83, died at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Leroy (Mildred) Crowder of Covington, Rt. 1. She had been in ill health for four years and seriously ill five months. She was born in Wabash Township, Fountain County, Jan. 4, 1881, the daughter of Charles and Harriet Roads Marlatt. She was married Feb. 12, 1902 to Julian Oblinger, who preceded her in death April 14, 1930. On Aug. 26, 1931, she was married to John Cook, who died June 16, 1946. Mrs. Cook was a life resident of Fountain County with the exception of a few years in Covington and Perrysville. She was a member of the Wabash Chapel Church and its Ladies Aid Society and the Wabash Home Demonstration Club. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Crowder; one grandson, Ronald Crowder, and two great-grandchildren, all of Covington Rt. 1. She was preceded in death by one son in infancy and one sister. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wabash Chapel Church, south of Covington. The Rev. Robert D. Snell will officiate and burial, with the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home of Covington in charge, will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington.
