Covington - Alvin C. Conner, 77, of Covington died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Emergency Room at Williamsport Community Hospital. Mr. Conner farmed south of Covington for 40 years and worked as a heavy equipment operator. His memberships injclude Mellott United Church of Christ and more than 50 years with Union Local 841 of Terre Haute. He was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. He was born Oct 5, 1916 at Mellott to Gilly and Myrtle Davis Conner. He married Myrtle Josephine Thomas April 9, 1944 at Rockville. She survives.
Other survivors include four sons: Jack, John Curtis and Alan J, all of Covington and Paul Leon of Williamsport; five daughters, Marilyn E. Johnson of Montana and Loretta Niccum, Sharon Roberts, Donna Jean VanEtta and Alice Stonebraker, all of Covington; 23 grandchilden and 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother and two grandchildern.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday in Cramer-Shoemaker Funeral Home at Waynetown with Rev. Gordon Nichols officiating. Burial will be in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Friends may cal 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. - kbz
