COMMONS, Emma Alice

Mrs. Emma Alice Commons, 82, a prominent resident of Tangier, died at her home there at noon Thursday, January 28. Born May 15, 180, at Plainfield, she was the daughter of William and Mahala Harvey. She was married in 1878 to David Commons who preceded her in death.
Mr. Commons was a minister in the Friends Church of which Mrs. Commons also was a member. They had lived in Kansas, Indianapolis, Noblesville and Coloma before moving to Tangier 18 years ago. She was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Friends Church and of the Women's Welfare League. The survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Lena Weaver of Tangier and Mrs. Abigale Huddleson of Indianapolis; a son, Lester Commons of Veedersburg; 9 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Florasinda Hadley of Tilton, Ill and three brothers, Washington Harvey of Kingman; William Harvey of Gary and Harley Harvey of Quakers' Point.
Funeral services were held at the Tangier Friends Church on Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock with Rev. Ed Woodward of Indianapolis in charge. Burial was made in Coloma Cemetery. --- transcribed by kbz
