Jackville - news

Source: Crawfordsville Review 30 March 1889

The vicinity of Jackville, down in Fountain county, was the scene of an interesting fight Last Saturday night. A family by the name of Marshall, residing there, were preparing to leave when a party of young fellows on a drunk entered the house. A fight ensued and one of Marshall boys was struck across the head with an ax, laying his skull open. A young man named Benton had a thumb cut off by an ax in the hands of old man Marshall. Ed Spinnings was knocked down twice by the old lady, and in fact none of them escaped without some cuts or bruises. It was a regular old-time Jackville fight.
