Attica – Lee Milligan, 68, has retired from the Attica Post Office after 34 years as a clerk and city carrier. On Dec 12, 1917, Milligan began his duties in the medical corps of the US Army serving until Nov 19, 1919. From 1920-1922 he worked on the Wabash Railroad as a mail clerk. In March of 1927 he began work as a substitute carrier at the Attica PO and began a regular clerk in 1931. Milligan’s wife died in 1943 and he became both father and mother to their three children, Beulah, Arthur and Charles. Beulah now resides in Kalamazoo Mich with her family while the other two remained in Attica. Charles and his family and Mr. Milligan reside together at 409 East Monroe. Arthur was appointed last month as a substitute carrier out of the Attica PO. The elder Milligan says he plans to stay at home and enjoy his seven grandchildren.
