Covington, Ind – Safecrackers took from $2500 to $3000 from the Fountain County Treasurer’s office over the weekend, Treasurer Forest Kay reported yesterday.  Janitor Alva Cotten discovered the break-in yesterday afternoon when he reported for work.  State Police Detective Sgt Herman Freed and Trooper Charles Allenduff said the yeggs appeared to be professionals.  The safe was opened with explosives.  Entry was gained by breakin down a door in the Courthouse basement.  Show prints indicated several lookouts were stationed at various parts of the building while the yeggs worked.
