enlisted 24 April 1861 (from Covington) in Co. I 15th Indiana Infantry as 
a 2nd Lt. - 10 Sept 1861 promoted to 1st Lt. and then Captain 9 Nov 1862 
which was his rank at mustering out (25 June 1864) which may have also 
been his death date.
