ZICK, (Frank) Neal
(Frank) Neal Zick worked at the Crawfordsville RR Donnelley plant for a decade, just out of high school. He was born in neighboring Newtown, Indiana where he attended school, active in sports, especially baseball
and basketball. He also attended Washington University in St. Louis and Indiana's own Butler. However, his college career was interrupted as he spent 32 months in the Army Signal Corps and Parachute Troops
(thanks to Michael Duane Bowman, Montgomery County INGenWeb and findagrave for the information). He enlisted at Ft. Benjamin Harrison 18 November 1942, listed as a printing apprentice on his papers.
Beginning his RRD work at Crawfordsville, he wound-up as Willard, Ohio's second Donnelley worker, and was general foreman until his death January 11, 1967 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born August 20, 1923 in Newtown, he was the son of Arthur Finley and Lillian Shultz Zick. "Finley" was born in Kentucky (to William and Ella Thacker Zick) and he, too, died at a young age (of liver cancer). His mother, Lillian's family was in Fountain County in the Newtown area for quite some time, with connections to the Riffle and Miller families.
Neal married Montgomery Countian, Barbara Stewart, who secondly wed Albert Newbill after Neal's early death.
Active in local politics, Neal also had a mad passion for golf. He was also an active member of Grace Methodist Church in Willard, as well as very active with fund raisers for the Willard Memorial Library.
