WILKINSON, James W.

Source: Iva Lewis Obituary Scrapbook

Justly Honored. Prof. James W. Wilkinson, who so narrowly escaped being elected superintendent of the public schools in this county, is now a student in the Indiana University. We are reliably informed that at the last faculty meeting previous to the opening of the spring term there, he was unanimously chosen to the position of assistant critic teacher in English in the practice school of the department of education. His work begins with the spring term. This is an honor rarely, if ever before, accorded any student who has not won his A. B. degree. Prof Wilkinson has another year before he receives this degree. We are gratified to learn of the reward for honest merit and a worthy ambition. Prof Wilkinson developed the Kingman schools to its present standing of a commissioned High School. Fountain county rejoices in the success of one of her sons. – jlr
