John Vansickle

Fountain County Court Docket A:335 Apr. Term 1854.

Partition. Samuel Vansickle, et al vs. Jonathan Wood, et al. The suit dated 14 Dec. 1852 related that John Vansickle died in Feb. 1847, the owner of c. 335 acres in 15-18-7 and adjoining sections. John left as heirs Catherine, his widow (remarried to John L. Brown) who was entitled to dower; and Samuel, Elizabeth J., John H. and Phoebe Vansickle, adults and Samantha and Joseph Vansickle by Nelson Crane their guardian. Also surviving John were Rebecca, Mary E., and William H. Vansickle, infants who had since died, and Eliza and Sarah Vansickle, adult heirs. Eliza had since married Jonathan Wood and Sarah married William Yorkshire, and portions of the land had been set off to them. Part of the land was sold to Henley L. Moore, William H. Mallory making the deed. William Bodine, Fielding Lacey and W.C.B. Sewell made partition of the balance.
